On Wednesday night, word came down the pike that the league, the owners, and the players’ association were finalizing the new collective bargaining agreement, effectively avoiding another work stoppage like the one that resulted in an abbreviated 66-game season in 2011.
Most of the basketball world rejoiced at the news, but for some inexplicable reason, not everyone was happy about it. Draymond Green, who has never been shy about speaking his mind on a variety of topics, fired off several incensed tweets in the immediate aftermath bemoaning the announcement.

One can only speculate as to why Green is upset, especially given the fact that most of the specifics of the agreement haven’t been released yet. Perhaps Green is concerned that it’ll include some sort of clause cracking down on unnatural leg movements.
The deadline to opt out of the current deal is Wednesday at midnight, but the NBA, the owners, and NBPA have been working diligently in recent weeks to avoid that scenario altogether. If they do indeed come to an agreement tonight as has been reported, it’ll still need to be ratified by all parties involved later this month. Regardless, it’s good news for the majority of the league and everyone who follows it.
