Despite a disappointing season, Milwaukee Bucks fans have a lot to be optimistic about. They have a nice young core comprising Jabari Parker, Khris Middleton, and Giannis Antetokounmpo, and their first order of business this offseason will likely be to offer the latter a full, five-year max contract extension that will keep him around at least until 2022. Luckily for the Bucks, the feeling is apparently mutual.

In a recent season postmortem interview with local reporters, Antetokounmpo indicated that he’s not only down to sign an extension; he’d like to follow in the footsteps of a certain recently retired star and stay with the team for the remainder of his career. Via Eric Nehm of Brew Hoop:

You’re eligible for a contract extension coming up. What are you expecting? By October, you could sign an extension with the Bucks.

“Hopefully. That was what everyone’s been working for, for them to extend me. Hopefully, I stay here 20 years and I get my Greek Freak Day like Kobe [Bryant].”

That’s a bit premature at this point, but fans in Milwaukee should be more than a little psyched about the prospect of watching the 6’11 Antetokounmpo try his hand at playing point guard on a full-time basis next season. Based on a small sample size, the rest of the league better watch out.
