Whoever said that post play is dead in the NBA obviously doesn’t watch Al Jefferson. Big Al took shot-blocker extraordinaire Anthony Davis to school last night with this classic up-under, step-through move for an easy layup.
Now that is how you use a shot-blocker’s strengths against him. So impressive. Of course, Jefferson was pretty much forced to change things up after this happened a quarter earlier:
Talk about a study in contrasts. Are there two interior scorers in the league more different than Jefferson and Davis? Imagine if the latter develops even half of the former’s prowess on the block. Scary. But that’s easier said than done – there’s a reason why Jefferson is the most fundamentally sound back-to-basket center in the NBA.
Big Al finished with 20 points on 17 shots in the Hornets’ loss to the Pelicans.
