The Knicks were awful last night. Just dreadful, and Carmelo Anthony continued to struggle shooting the ball (he’s just 10-for-41 in his last two games, both Knicks losses). The Nets jumped all over their intra-city rivals in a 110-99 game that was actually a lot worse before the Knicks partially recovered in the fourth. About the only positive for the Knicks was a slinky spin move by J.R. Smith before he scooped a no-look dime to Cole Aldrich.
There’s no reason to even mention how dreadful the Knicks looked last night, but J.R. had eight points on 5-for-8 shooting to go with five dimes. None of them, however, were as pretty as this one to Aldrich:
STAT shot 50 percent from the floor (6/12 for 14 points) and Iman Shumpert was 4-of-8, but for the most part the team struggled while shooting a shade over 41 percent on the night. ‘Melo was the primary culprit, and if the Knicks are going to look decent enough to squeeze into the playoffs, it’ll be on their not-quite max player to figure out how to find his flow in the triple-post.
One silver living from last night’s New York City battle: Deron Williams looked like his old self on his way to a game-high 29 points on 10-for-15 shooting.
