Hassan Whiteside is having a storybook season.
After a basketball journey around the world that included stops in the D-League, China and Lebanon, Whiteside has finally found a home with the Miami Heat. He’s come, essentially, out of nowhere, posting nightly double-doubles with numbers that look like they’re straight out of a video game.
Things aren’t completely rosy for Whiteside, though, especially over the last few games. First, he got into a tussle with Alex Len, resulting in an ejection. Tonight, he got ejected for a cheap shot on Kelly Olynyk, blindsiding the Celtics’ center with a shoulder in the back.
Whiteside’s story will continue to be one of the best in the NBA, but for a player still trying to secure a spot in the league, he can’t afford a hot-head label.
