Friday must have been a whirlwind of a day for Shaquille O’Neal. In the afternoon he was announced as a finalist for the Basketball Hall of Fame – alongside a very confused Allen Iverson – but by the end of the night, he was wearing a poncho and smashing an egg over his head on live television.
The Inside the NBA crew decided to take a page from Jimmy Fallon’s book and play egg Russian roulette on air – you may remember Fallon recently playing it with the likes of Magic Johnson and Peyton Manning and Deadpool star Ryan Reynolds – and it did not go well for The Diesel.
The game is pretty simple. Two people take turns smashing eggs on their heads. Some of the eggs are hard boiled, but some of them are raw. After Kenny Smith managed to get through his smash unharmed, Shaq was not so lucky. Fortunately, he was able to laugh it off and throw some yolk on Smith and Ernie Johnson, thankfully avoiding getting any on their guest, Super Bowl MVP Von Miller.
Why exactly were the Inside the NBA guys playing egg Russian Roulette? It is one of life’s greatest unsolved mysteries, but it’s just another reason to love NBA All-Star Weekend.
