The Severity Of Isaiah Thomas’ Dental Injuries Is Way Worse Than You Thought

As if Isaiah Thomas hasn’t been through enough lately, he caught a nasty elbow in Game 1 of the Celtics’ semifinal round series against the Wizards, which knocked out one of his front teeth. Not only did he finish the game, he underwent six hours worth of dental surgery the next day, followed by another four-hour procedure the day after that.

All he did next was come out and drop 53 points in a massive Game 2 win, on the day that his sister, Chyna, who died tragically in a car wreck a few weeks ago, would have turned 23 years old. Now, according to a team release, the severity of his dental injuries was much worse than initially thought.

Thomas apparently re-injured his teeth in the first half of Game 3 when he came down face-first on the court. It’s a series that’s been chippy (heyo!) from the start, and things nearly reached their boiling point in Game 3 when Kelly Oubre Jr. took umbrage with Kelly Olynyk for a hard screen that sent him to the deck, then proceeded to get himself ejected for violently shoving Olynyk.

It doesn’t look like these two teams are going to start playing nice anytime soon, especially with the Wizards trying to even up the series when Game 4 tips off on Sunday at 6:30 p.m. ET on TNT.
