We get a little closer to finally watching Joel Embiid play basketball every single day. This isn’t just exciting for Sixers fans – every basketball fan can appreciate someone as uniquely talented as Philadelphia’s super-athletic seven footer who appears to have range out to the three-point line. Sure, he needs to prove he can stay healthy, but if he can, it’s not crazy to think that Embiid can eventually be an All-Pro big man.
We saw glimpses of how dominant Embiid can be on Saturday…well, kind of. The Sixers held an event in which a few players – including Embiid and Ben Simmons – were in attendance. There were a lot of children there, and like any super confident kid, they all wanted to see what would happen if they played 1-on-1 against an NBA player. Embiid was that player. He ruined them.
First, there is the video at the top of this post of a little dude trying cross up Embiid and drive to the basket. Embiid stood there like he was going to let the kid score, but at the last second, he skied in the air and spiked the ball like he was playing volleyball. A different kid tried playing defense against Embiid, who drove to the rim and threw down a dunk.

All of this was fun, sure, but the best part of the day for Sixers fans was probably when Embiid was asked about his health and he said that he feels like he’s at “100 percent” and that he’s “ready to get started.”
