In Jordan Brand‘s new ad for Derek Jeter, scheduled to air just before he appears in the 2014 MLB All-Star Game Tuesday night, a stunning collection of fellow baseball players, NBA stars, coaches, managers, musicians, movie directors, a former NYC mayor, the G.O.A.T, New Yorkers, and even Sawx fans all tip their caps to the Captain. We don’t really like baseball (to slow), but Jeter is an institution in New York, and this 90-second spot is sure to raise the hairs on your arms regardless of how you feel about baseball.
Watch cameos from Rudy Giuliani, Jay-Z, John Lackey, Joe Torre, Mariano Rivera, Andy Pettite, rapper Action Bronson, skater Eric Kosten, Spike Lee, Jeanie Buss, Phil Jackson, Maya Moore, Carmelo Anthony, Tiger Woods and Billy Crystal as they pay “re2pect” to Captain Clutch in this, his 20th year wearing the iconic pinstripes.
The last tip of the cap comes from Michael Jordan. Jeter was the first Jordan Brand-endorsed baseball athlete when he signed in 1999 — following his third World Series win.
Other than MJ, Jeter’s the brand’s longest-tenured Jordan Brand athlete, and with 12 signature cleats in his line, he has the most signature shoes of any Jordan Brand athlete not named Michael Jordan.
