The NBA playoffs are great for a number of reasons. They give us incredible moments that we’ll never forget, spark great rivalries and performances from individuals and teams, and, most importantly, they give us great meme content.
The breakout meme star of the 2017 postseason came courtesy of an intense pep talk Draymond Green gave to Kevin Durant. The GIF of that conversation, with Green talking with great passion and poking Durant in the chest, while Durant stares blankly into the distance nodding, became an internet sensation.
The GIF on its own is funny, and a perfect representation of the two players. Draymond, the intense, vocal leader of the Warriors and Durant, the calmer, quieter star that does his best to not overreact to much simply letting Green say his piece.

There are tons of wonderful examples of this meme all over Twitter, and when a moment like that becomes that big, it eventually will circle back to the people involved. Durant, in a recent video series, revealed that he finds it hysterical and read off one example that made him chuckle.

I love this. The moment when the unwitting star of a meme becomes aware of it and actually finds it funny — like Nick Young with the question mark meme. I’m very happy that Durant enjoys it as much as we all do, and now would like Green’s thoughts as well. I can imagine them just scrolling through Twitter on the plane, laughing at the steady stream of jokes pouring through.
