Kevin Durant’s defection to the Golden State Warriors is the biggest NBA story we’ve had in quite some time. As such, the dust is still settling after the boom caused by him inking his future to the Bay Area, and the smaller stories involved will unearth themselves for months and months to come.
One of those involves Klay Thompson. The Warriors’ All-Star guard and current Team USA baller alongside Durant has been talked about as a potential “sacrifice” candidate considering all the shots Durant and two-time MVP Stephen Curry will take. Thompson doesn’t think it will go that way, though.
“I feel kind of disrespected that people keep using the term sacrifice to describe me and describe us,” Thompson told Shams Charania of The Vertical. “We all want to see each other do well. But I’m not sacrificing [expletive], because my game isn’t changing. I’m still going to try to get buckets, hit shots, come off screens. I want to win and have a fun time every game we play.”
In the conversation, Thompson also reveals that he was sleeping when Durant officially chose Golden State. He was apparently woken up by his brother, who broke the news, and then an excited Thompson actually went back to sleep. This, probably, is the most Klay Thompson anecdote there is.
