The New York Knicks‘ nightmare scenario happened on Tuesday night, as superstar big man Kristaps Porzignis suffered a left knee injury against the Milwaukee Bucks. Porzingis was going up for a dunk during the second quarter of the game, and after flushing it home while being contested by Giannis Antetonokounmpo, went to the ground and looked to be in serious pain.
The Knicks’ star big man was writhing in pain as he held his knee on the ground. Here’s a video of the incident, in which Porzingis seems to know right away that something is wrong with his knee.
He was able to make his way off of the court with some help and went back into New York’s locker room at Madison Square Garden.

At the time he was taken off the court, Porzingis had put up 10 points and two rebounds. This is the second time this season that Porzingis suffered an injury like this, as he hurt his left knee during the team’s game against the Nets on Dec. 14. That, too, was a non-contact injury which happened over the course of a play.
Porzingis was only day-to-day after that injury, and Knicks fans have to hope that will be the outcome this time, too. We’ll learn more after the MRI that ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski reports he is undergoing, but according to Frank Isola of the New York Daily News, he can put weight on his knee right now.
