Some good news on the Lamar Odom front: According to E!, the former Los Angeles Laker has been released from his hospital in Las Vegas.
E! News has exclusively learned that the former NBA star has been discharged from Sunrise Hospital in Las Vegas, where he has been receiving medical treatment after being found unconscious on Tuesday, and is heading to California.
Not only is this relieving news, it also provides a bit of calm to what was, until very recently, a tumultuous saga filled with drama and false reports. J.R. Smith was among those who posted what proved to be premature messages of grieving for Odom’s passing. To be fair to Smith, this is not his fault. During the first few hours when news broke of Odom’s hospitalization, all sorts of conflicting reports, including those claiming Odom’s death, were flying around Twitter.
Yet, just because Odom is discharged doesn’t mean he’s out of the woods. He’s got a long road of recovery ahead of him, one that won’t be easy. As we reported earlier, Odom still isn’t able to stand up, and may have some cognitive impairment. Hopefully, though, judging by the immense outpouring of support for him, he’ll have plenty of friends to help along the way.
