LeBron James wants the banana boat crew to set sail to the NBA All-Star game.
NBA players are very aware that All-Star voting is happening on Twitter this year. Players with more difficult to spell names like Giannis Antetokounmpo hope spelling mistakes won’t hurt them in voting.
On Sunday, LeBron James voted on Twitter for the infamous banana boat crew, which includes Chris Paul, Carmelo Anthony, and Dwyane Wade. He sent out the following three tweets seconds apart.

James asked for retweets on each vote and, because he has 34 million followers on Twitter, thousands of people obliged him. That’s a good bump in voting for the crew, in case some of the biggest names in basketball were somehow struggling to get votes.
There was no direct acknowledgement of bananas or any reference to the boat, but James did only vote for people he once shared a large banana with. Though James initially denied he was on said banana boat, the crew later the acknowledged the boating adventure with a custom Snapchat filter.
Somehow, Carmelo Anthony has replaced Gabrielle Union on the Snapchat banana boat, which is why he got included in the Tweetstorm. That seems unfair to Union, but I suppose she gets a trip to New Orleans out of this whole thing if it works so I’m sure she won’t mind.
