Lou Williams And The Clippers Have Reportedly Agreed To A Contract Extension

Lou Williams is getting paid. Word broke of contract talks between the dynamic scoring guard, whose name had popped up in trade talks, and the Los Angeles Clippers working on a possible contract extension early on Wednesday morning. Fast forward to Wednesday afternoon and the two sides have reportedly come to terms.

Tony Jones of the Salt Lake Tribune announced that the agreement was on the verge of being completed, while Shams Charania of Yahoo Sports reported that the agreement was struck between the two sides.

Following up on that, Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN added some clarity about the details of this extension: The Clippers will give Williams a three-year extension with a team option on the last year of the deal. There’s no word on how much Williams will make over the life of this contract.

While he was not selected to the All-Star Game, much to his chagrin, Williams has had the best year of his NBA tenure in Los Angeles, as he was acquired by the franchise in the trade that sent Chris Paul to Houston. Williams is averaging career highs in scoring and distributing this season, as the veteran guard is registering 23.3 points and 5.3 assists per game.

Charania and Mark Deeks got the details of the extension later on Wednesday, reporting Williams will see a minor raise, going to an $8 million annual salary, with the third year being partially guaranteed for $1.5 million with a team option.
