Kyrie Irving is your next 2K Sports cover athlete. The Cleveland Cavaliers guard graces the latest cover of the fabled video game while its current version is telling you exactly who will win the NBA Finals.
2K Sports announced its latest NBA 2K cover athlete on Thursday morning, showing off the image of Irving putting up an easy layup in front of a red, black, and grey stylized backdrop.
“I’m an avid player of this series, and I am honored to be the cover athlete of NBA 2K18,” Irving said in an 2K Sports release. “It’s surreal to be featured on the cover, and I can’t wait to dominate on the virtual court with all of my fans this fall.”
Shaquille O’Neal was already announced as the cover athlete for the Legend Edition of the game, but Irving’s appearance marks his first cover honors. The game drops on Sept. 19, long after this year’s NBA Finals is decided. Gamers who pre-order the game can get early access to the game and its in-game bonuses on September 15.
With 2K Sports teaming up with at least 17 other NBA teams to start a NBA 2K E-sports league next year, it’s probably a good idea to brush up on your skills.
