It’s been a pretty solid 24 hours for Steph Curry. The Warriors star was reportedly named as the league’s MVP on Monday, and he then had a game for the ages by scoring 17 points in overtime to lift Golden State past Portland in Game 4 of that series. To top it all off, Curry made history by becoming the first ever unanimous MVP in NBA history on Tuesday morning when he was officially awarded his second consecutive Maurice Podoloff Trophy.
Curry is the 11th player in history to win back-to-back MVP awards, but he stands alone in receiving every first-place vote. LeBron James in 2013, and Shaquille O’Neal in 2000, both got within one vote of a unanimous decision, but Curry is the first man to be No. 1 on ever award ballot.
Unsurprisingly, the Internet had something to say about Curry’s big win.

Genunely happy for Steph Curry but be wary of anyone who claims unanimous victory. Something fishy going on #MVPGate pic.twitter.com/HmWhTgLftg

Steph produced a season the likes of which had never been seen in the NBA. No issue at all with him being the unanimous choice.

Steph Curry the 1st unanimous NBA MVP. The only one in the NFL? Tom Brady in 2010

Kawhi Leonard, Russell Westbrook, and LeBron James all have legitimate claims to an MVP award, but some of the things Curry did this year were absurd, making it a one-horse race for basically the whole year.
Honestly, Curry deserves unanimous MVP. Plenty of players deserved the award in a normal season, but Steph is doing abnormal things.

Russell Westbrook averages 23.5 points, 10.4 assists, 7.8 rebounds, doesn't get a single MVP vote. That's how good Curry is.

Not only is Curry the first ever MVP in league history to get every first-place vote, he’s also only the fourth player ever to win any major award that way.
Rookies of the Year Damian Lillard ('13), David Robinson ('90) and Ralph Sampson ('84) were only players to win major NBA award unanimously

Some media members took to Twitter to congratulate their comrades for not screwing it up this time, like they did in 2013.

Stephen Curry was so good nobody was dumb enough to vote for anyone else.

Steph Curry named the unanimous MVP. Good job everybody not throwing a random Carmelo Anthony in there this time.

It's almost impossible to get 130 media members to vote anything unanimously. There's always one contrarian but kudos for getting it right.

Surprised the MVP was unanimous. It's near impossible to build consensus on anything, no matter how obvious
— Ethan Strauss (@SherwoodStrauss) May 10, 2016
Making media votes public helped make Curry a unanimous MVP, if it was a secret ballot someone would have voted for LeBron just to stop it.

Others were just happy they didn’t accidentally vote for Curry’s brother, Seth.
So glad I didn't accidentally vote for Seth Curry on the drop-down menu.

As much as this is a win for Steph Curry, it's also a win for the 131 media members who managed not to accidentally vote for Seth Curry

Curry, along with Steve Kerr and Warriors general manager Bob Myers, are set to host a private MVP press conference at 2 p.m. on Tuesday at the Oracle Arena.
