Mike Efevberha, aka “Money Mike,” dropped 45 points for Problems Sunday at the Drew League and, more important, hit a game-tying three in double overtime with the clock winding down. But Nick “Swaggy P” Young was able to get off one last shot to give MHP a three-point win at the buzzer.
Young has been the subject of trade rumors this summer as various reports indicated that coach Byron Scott had grown weary of his antics. The gregarious guard even likened his situation to that of Pau Gasol, who was also floated around as trade bait on several occasions during his tenure with the Lakers.
For now, at least, it appears Young will remain in Los Angeles, although the acquisition of Sixth Man of the Year Lou Williams (not to mention Kobe Bryant’s return, Jordan Clarkson’s emergence, and the drafting of D’Angelo Russell) complicates his place in the rotation.
Whatever transpires with the Lakers, he’ll always be a star at the Drew League.
