Always love the hate. #MambaDayhttps://t.co/oqWHZi6Amv

Wednesday, the day of Kobe Bryant’s final NBA game, has been heralded as the time to praise the all-time Lakers great. But Nike has decided to flip an ironic spin on its latest Kobe commercial: They’re honoring Kobe by hating him. The spot features various fans, Phil Jackson, Paul Pierce, and Rasheed Wallace.
“We’re going to play off of Otis Reddings’s…”
“I’m sold”
“OK, but it’s cool because we also have Sheed singing…”
“SHUT UP AND TAKE MY MONEY"— Zach Harper (@talkhoops) April 13, 2016
Of course, the ad is a take on Otis Redding’s I’ve Been Loving You Too Long.

Enjoy Redding’s raspiness, though it may not cut quite as deep as Kobe did into NBA fans’ hearts for the past 20 years.
