The cover star for NBA 2K17 is expected to be announced tomorrow, but it appears that a picture of the cover has gotten out early. According to a since-deleted PS4 preorder listing on Sony’s website, in addition to two limited-edition Kobe Bryant covers, the artwork for the game will feature Indiana Pacers star Paul George.

George has never been on the cover of a 2K or NBA Live game (unless you count MyNBA2K16), and he’s a good choice. Recent 2K editions have featured Derrick Rose, Blake Griffin, Kevin Durant (twice), LeBron James, Stephen Curry, Anthony Davis and James Harden. George is as accomplished as most of those players, and given his combination of dunking ability, three-point shooting, and defense, he’s one of the more fun players to use in the game. It doesn’t hurt that George’s 2015-16 season was one of the better stories of the year, coming back from a gruesome summer 2014 leg injury to have another All-Star season, make third team All-NBA and lead the Pacers back to the playoffs. It’s a good choice on the part of 2K Sports.
