The Miami Heat played just about as well as you could ask, but in the end it wasn’t enough as the Golden State Warriors were able to gut out a gritty win Wednesday behind a combined 75 points from the Splash Brothers.
Klay Thompson scored 15 straight for the Warriors during one stretch of the fourth quarter, but it was Steph Curry, of course, who iced the win with back-to-back threes from way downtown.
The first came with just over a minute remaining in the game and the Warriors trailing 106-104. On the reigning champs’ next possession, Hassan Whiteside blocked Draymond Green’s 3-point attempt, but Curry was able to gather the loose ball and casually knock down a second consecutive three from the top of the key.
MVP! MVP! MVP!
The Warriors withstood huge performances from Dwyane Wade, who had 32 points and seven assists on 50 percent shooting, and Hassan Whiteside, who added 21 points and 13 rebounds.
