The Milwaukee Bucks have had a lot of eyes focused their way during summer league in Las Vegas. Not only did second overall pick Jabari Parker make his NBA debut in Sin City, but second-year rising star Giannis Antetokounmpo has stolen the show a few times with dazzling plays. Today there was another.
In a first-round tournament match against the Spurs, the “Greek Freak” showed off his ballhandling skills by splitting the defenders and then attacking the rim with fury as he jamed over two more defenders seemingly without breaking a sweat.
Despite Antetokounmpo’s 20 points and seven boards and Parker’s 16 points, the Bucks fell to the Spurs 100-71 on Wednesday. They have one more chance to capture their first win in Las Vegas on Thursday before their summer league season wraps up.
The control and ease 19-year-old shows while carrying the ball, as exemplified by the clip above, only adds credibility to a possible place running the point this next season. Antetokounmpo was listed as 6-9 at the beginning of the 2013-14 season and finished the regular season measuring 6-10.5. Reportedly, the Antetokounmpo now stands at 6-11 and is still growing. He could be the first seven-footer to run the point in NBA history.
