The Hawks faced the top two Western Conference teams over the weekend. After dispatching the Warriors at home on Friday in a battle of the best records in the NBA, they traveled to Memphis to take on the No. 2 team in the West on Sunday. Mike Conley put his team over the top in a battle against 2015 All-Star Jeff Teague, hitting a huge last-minute bucket to extend the Memphis lead and help them to a 94-88 win.
We always like it when a player uses his dribble to fake the screen, and go the opposite way. That’s exactly what Conley did with the Marc Gasol pick. He hesitated right and burst to his left before lofting a high floater over Al Horford‘s hand off the glass for the bucket.
They were points 20 and 21 on a day when he led the Grizzlies in scoring on 7-for-12 shooting from the field. He added six assists, three rebounds and three steals with only one turnover in over 32 minutes of action.
Out of his 21 points on the night, the two in slow-mo above were the biggest. However, it’s not like Conley totally outplayed ATL’s All-Star point. Teague scored a game-high 22 points (9-of-13 shooting) and added six assists of his own, though he also committed four turnovers.
