The Golden State Warriors don’t measure their success by games played in December. Even the notoriously confident defending champions, though, readily admit that Friday’s re-match with the Milwaukee Bucks at Oracle Arena means just a bit more than any typical regular season game.
Why?
As Steph Curry, Draymond Green, and company explained to ESPN’s Ethan Sherwood Strauss, they weren’t pleased with how the Bucks reacted to ending the Warriors’ historic winning streak last Saturday in Milwaukee.
“Oh, it was a nice celebration. We do remember that stuff,” reigning MVP Stephen Curry said Wednesday night after a 128-103 win over the Phoenix Suns. “We were kind of laughing at some of the stuff going on. It was a big game for them. Friday will be a big game for us.”
[…]
“Michael Carter-Williams getting a dunk at the end of the game and looking at our bench like, ‘Dude you lost your spot,'” Green said of Carter-Williams losing his job as a starter.
Klay Thompson took extra umbrage with Michael Carter-Williams’ post-jam stare-down, too, telling ESPN that he felt Jason Kidd’s team “could have won with a little more class.”
But the Bucks’ recently-demoted point guard, unsurprisingly, is singing a different tune. Carter-Williams says his pointed gaze was the direct result of instigation from arguably the league’s loudest mouth.
MCW says celebration was in response to Draymond Green trash talk.

We’re not privy to the specifics of verbal interactions between opposing players on the court, unfortunately. But would anyone be surprised if Green was doing a little talking? Didn’t think so.
Either way, it’s fair to expect some fireworks when the Warriors and Bucks tip-off at 10:30 EST later tonight.
