We’ve already brought you the trailer for the latest Aaron Seltzer/Jason Friedberg affront to parody, The Starving Games, but it’s not a real genre-spoofer unless there’s another film exactly like it coming out at the same time. Scary Movie V had A Haunted House, and thus, The Hungover Games is brought to us by Jamie Kennedy and his writing team, as well as director Josh Stolberg, who wrote Piranha 3D and Good Luck Chuck and helmed such “coming of age” films as Feels So Good and Kids in America.
Now, I know what you’re thinking: “Isn’t The Hungover Games a much better parody title than The Starving Games?” Yes, I will definitely give someone credit for that, and that would be the people behind this Funny or Die parody from last year and this other random YouTube spoof as well. But hey, I can’t be all negative about this one, because it does have former Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver Hank Baskett in it.
And not only is that Hank Baskett, but he’s joined by Bruce Jenner.
You know, I can’t help but look at the two former athletes in this trailer and wonder if OJ Simpson is to blame for the plummet that the parody genre took in regard to quality. And the answer is yes. Yes he is.
