A New ‘Ghostbusters’ Game Is On The Way, And It Introduces Another Fresh Team Of ‘Busters

We’re all well-aware there’s a new Ghostbusters movie coming our way on July 15, yes? Well, it turns out that a new Ghostbusters video game will also be materializing on the same day. Simply titled Ghostbusters, the game lets you team up with up to three friends to, well, bust ghosts! Go figure.

The game also features an all-new team of Ghostbusters not based on either the original movies, or the upcoming Melissa McCarthy and Kristen Wiig-starring flick. This time around, it looks like you’re playing as sassy teens trying to rid their high school of ghouls. Oh, and yes, this team features an equal mix of guys and girls, so let’s keep the outrage and bile to a minimum. Okay, internet?

The Ghostbusters franchise has a long, and not terribly successful, history with video games. The “classic” 8-bit Ghostbusters game was infamously awful, and all of the original Ghostbusters (yes, even Bill Murray) lent their voices to a much-hyped 2009 game that was otherwise unremarkable. Will this new Ghostbusters game break the series’ bad streak? Ehhhh, honestly it doesn’t look that promising, but there’s a chance some co-op bustin’ might make players feel good.

Ghostbusters will be available July 15 on PC, Xbox One and PS4.
