A Compendium of Cool Comics Cosplay: November 25th

In today’s Black Friday comic book cosplay feature, we’re spotlighting the best superhero (and villain) related costuming from the cosplay community.  We’re once again casting the spotlight onto those cosplayers who we think deserve special recognition for coming up with the best costumes, whatever the budget, and the photographers who capture them for posterity.
Gamma Squad is committed to giving a voice to the cosplay community that thrives in groups like TheSuperheroCostumingForum.com. Each week we spotlight our favorite costumes and each month we host a cosplay contest. We’ll be picking a theme for each month and inviting cosplayers, costumers and photographers to submit related pictures of their work to our Flickr group to be considered. We’ll then pick our top choices and post them on Gamma Squad for the adoration of all.
The theme for the upcoming month is:

  • Spider-man and Friends

But in the meantime, let’s continue with this week’s selection.

Now acting as Headmistress in the Wolverine and the X-men title, Shadowcat’s had a bit of a revival in recent years. Which goes for cosplaying too, with this take on the iconic X-men costume just the latest example.

Attitude can turn good cosplay into great cosplay, and Lex here really looks like he’s getting into the role, making this pair of cosplayers stand out.

The White Queen’s a popular choice with con-goers – and not just those wearing the costume. We think Emma here looks fantastic.

Two of DC’s less high-profile heroines get the cosplay treatment here, with both costumes being pretty close to perfection.

It looks like Carol Danvers is showing her allegiance in this shot. Great stuff.

Booster Gold cosplay at Comikaze 2011. Photo by DTJAAAAM. Source: Flickr

With talk of a Booster Gold pilot on the cards, it seemed appropriate to feature this cosplayer, complete with shiny hiney.

It’s not easy being green. No, not a shot celebrating the new Muppets movie, but Magneto’s estranged daughter. A beautiful shot of the costume from Stillvisions.

And speaking of shiny – This Catwoman cosplayer definitely looks like she’d be able to slip around undetected. But she’s pinged our radar.

It’s always a pleasure to see cosplayers embracing the cheese when it comes to superhero costuming, and this Power Man cosplayer is no exception. Love the tiara, man!

Miss Martian cosplay at Dragon*Con 2011. Photo by Patcave. Source: Flickr

A character who just seems to be growing in popularity, since high-profile appearances in Teen Titans and the Young Justice cartoon, and a cosplay we think deserves a place here.
