The last couple days, you may have noticed something called the #BowWowChallenge trending on social media. It all started when Bow Wow shared a picture on his Instagram showing off a private plane with a caption that read, “Travel day. NYC press run for Growing Up Hip Hop. Lets gooo.”

The only problem was, he didn’t fly private that day, and got busted for it. A person who shared a flight with him on a commercial plane spotted him and pointed out the discrepancy on Twitter. “So this guy Lil Bow Wow is on my flight to NY,” @Al_Khee wrote on social media. “On Instagram he posted a picture of a private jet captioned ‘traveling to NY today’ smh.” Not the best look.

The revelation spawned a whole host of merciless memes juxtaposing opulent fantasies with jarring realities.

Today, Bow Wow went on the Hot 97 show Ebro In The Morning to explain himself and it seems like he’s in on all of it. “I took the Greyhound in here this morning man,” Bow Wow joked up top. “It’s a scientific method to my madness,” he declared while alluding to his upcoming show on WE TV. “You got to watch the show. Everything is for the show.”
DJ Peter Rosenberg put it in better terms. “It was a troll,” he said. “I believe he was trolling for this to happen. Maybe it’ll be in the show. I know for a fact that Bow Wow is too smart, that he thought he could get away with this.”
As to the many L’s he’s taken on social media recently, “It doesn’t affect me. It doesn’t affect the women. It doesn’t affect the bank. It doesn’t affect anything,” he said. “Me and my homies play around all day, so you have got to have thick skin, so when the joke is around on me, I don’t really care.”
