When something’s so popular it “breaks” Netflix, the sensible course of action is to promise another opportunity to “break” the streaming service once again. That’s why today’s news/tease that Marvel’s Luke Cage has a second season on the way shouldn’t come as any sort of immense shock.
Confirmation of the bulletproof black man’s series coming back for another round was provided with a simple (but welcome) Twitter clip featuring a neon message in Pop’s Barber Shop reading: “Season 2 Coming Soon.” Unfortunately, “soon” is about as definitive of a release date as we’re going to get. Mike Colter‘s Cage still has to align forces with the likes of Daredevil, Jessica Jones and Iron Fist for 2017’s ensemble superhero offering The Defenders, plus there’s loads of other Marvel Netflix fare being promised in the next few years. As we’ve seen, Marvel has a particular way of dishing these things out, so it’s very important society doesn’t collapse until we have the appropriate multi-year bubble that can facilitate season 2 of Luke Cage.
In the meantime, there are all sorts of excellent fan-made options to tide us over. After all, history will always wonder what Luke Cage would be like as a Miller-Boyett family sitcom.
