Marvel's Black Panther starring Chadwick Boseman is set for release on February 16, 2018 and fans are dying to know who will be involved in the story besides T'Challa and his badass bodyguard. Captain America: Civil War's Sebastian Stan is being careful about opening the flood gates of rumor town but we have a pretty good feeling about this anyway.
A lot of interesting stories are coming out of Wizard World in Philadelphia. ComicBook.com has video from the convention's panel featuring Stan and his costars Chris Evans and Anthony Mackie in which fans had time to ask burning questions.
One fan asked Stan if he could have his character Bucky (aka the Winter Soldier) be in any other Marvel movie (excluding Captain America or Avengers films), which would it be?
“Careful,” replied Evans first. “Because I answered one of these questions and then everyone picks it up, and they run it like it's what you demanded or something.” Mackie added, “You're gonna break the internet tomorrow.”
So, being very clear that this is simply what Stan hopes to see, he told the fan (spoilers for the mid-credit scene of Civil War):
“I don't know, man. I mean, there's obviously a very clear answer but I'm not gonna maybe say it, now. Well, where did he end up? Where did he end up at the end of the movie? That's the movie he should be in I think. [Appears to mouth Black Panther to Evans] I feel like that would be the natural…but I don't know, you know, I don't know anything.”
Ok, now let's be honest – The very clear answer is that Marvel already has Stan lined up for Black Panther but hasn't officially announced it. Right?
The mid-credit scene he's referencing left his character in stasis in Panther's home in Wakanda until they could figure out a way to get rid of his brainwashing. It would certainly make logical and interesting story sense for the man T'Challa was out for revenge against (until he learned the truth) to aid him in whatever adventure/battle this movie finds him in. Conversely, Stan could just be in every Marvel film over the next few years considering his nine-film contract.
Directed by Creed”s Ryan Coogler the film is also set to star Lupita Nyong”o and Michael B. Jordan.
