A few days ago, news of Common’s addition to the ever expanding cast of David Ayer’s Suicide Squad made the rounds. The film’s cast already includes the likes of Jared Leto as the Joker, Will Smith as Deadshot and Margot Robbie as Harlequin. Early speculation about Common’s role led many to think he would be playing Bronze Tiger.
According to this tweet from JoBlo editor-in-chief Paul Shirley, however, the Academy Award-winning rapper and actor might actually be taking on the role of Black Manta in the film:

This is just an unconfirmed rumor at the moment, but Common playing Black Manta could help lay further groundwork for DC’s movie universe moving forward. Hell, this would definitely help setup the possible antagonistic storyline to be featured in the Aquaman movie coming in 2018.
