Lil Wayne has made no bones about his feelings for his former record label Cash Money and his one-time mentor Birdman.
Not only has he filed suit against the company for unpaid royalties and release date delays, he bashed Birdman and Co. throughout an entire album whose title slyly referred to his contract with the label as a prison.
In an interview with Power 105.1, Birdman admitted he was surprised by Wayne’s harsh words.
“That was shocking to everybody. You never thought Wayne would be saying nothing negative about me in no lifetime. I never thought that could ever happen — for that man to open his mouth and say something negative about me.”
Birdman added that he still loved the rapper he considers a son, and noted that he was genuinely hurt by Wayne’s actions.
“You understand me? That was a lot. Sh*t f*cked my day up. I love my son. He mean the world to me. For that man to say something negative about me, that affected my life.”
Check out a preview of the interview above. The full interview will air at 4 p.m. EST. One can only assume Birdman will dig deeper into the Lil Wayne beef, including the rumors that he conspired to have Weezy killed.
