The tributes to Christina Grimmie have not been in short supply following her murder last weekend in Orlando. The 22-year-old singer clearly left a major impact on those that knew her and her loss has been felt by friends, fans and family in the wake of the tragedy.
Two services were held this week marking Grimmie’s passing, one private (where she was laid to rest) and one public which was attended by thousands. Christina’s brother Marcus shared an incredibly poignant observation with the assembled crowd.
“When the gunman came, her arms were open to him,” Marcus said. “Her arms were open all the time. That’s how she treated everyone she knew, her arms were open for them. So thanks again for coming out you guys, and I love you Christina.”
In honor of Grimmie’s memory, her family has shared a memorial video celebrating the life of the young singer. “Christina Grimmie was taken from all of us far too soon, but the impact she had on this world in the short 22 years of her life will carry on forever,” reads the description attached to this touching video.
The four-minute tribute features footage from throughout her career and Grimmie directly addressing the viewer on numerous occasions. Soundtracked by the singer’s rendition of Jason Mraz’s “I Won’t Give Up,” it’s a tribute that feels very personal and prompts a lot of emotion.
“You’re strong, so own it. Love, me,” says Grimmie as the video comes to a close. If you’d like to watch it, we have it nestled at the top of this post.
