As improbably as it may seem, it’s been ten years since Rick Ross dropped Port of Miami. Before Rozay became a household name, he was just as “Hustlin'” Miami rapper trying to make his way into the game. Now that he’s established himself as a rap great, he’s celebrating his longevity by performing his first album in an exclusive Tidal concert on August 29th. Ross told Rolling Stone “this is the biggest concert of my life.”
Ross’ ten year resume boats some impressive stats. He’s got eight albums, four of which debuted at #1 on the Billboard chart. In addition to his mainstream success he’s had a prolific run on the mixtape circuit, dropping fan favorites like The Albert Anastasia EP and Rich Forever. He’s also shared his success with others, starting up his label Maybach Music Group and signing acts like Wale, Meek Mill, Gunplay, and Omarion. To date, the label has released twenty albums since it was formed in 2009.
Even though he already boasts a reputation for being a hard worker, the Miami native took things up a couple notches within the last couple of years. He’s released three full-length LPs in the last twenty-four months, including Hood Billionaire and Mastermind in 2014 with Black Market in 2015.
The concert is set to take place in Miami, FL at 8:30pm and will be available for both Tidal members as well as non-subscribers. For more info, go here.
