I’ve heard of Breaking Bad, but breaking news??? That’s the kind of non-joke you shouldn’t expect from Baskets, a want-it-now comedy that FX just picked up starring Zach Galifianakis, who created it along with Louis C.K. and Jonathan Krisel. Here’s the official synopsis:
In a world constrained by corporate interests and the homogenization of society, one man in Bakersfield, California dares to follow his dream of becoming a professional clown. But after an unsuccessful enrollment at a prestigious clowning school in Paris, the only job he can find is with the local rodeo. Baskets follows Chip Baskets’ (Zach Galifianakis) pursuit of his dream, against all odds, to be a respected clown.
There is nothing to not like about that last sentence. Ten episodes of Baskets have already been ordered, and it will premiere in 2016. I cannot wait for the first “my name’s Baskets, Chip Baskets.”
