Whatever “it” is — an ability to make cowboys farting around a campfire funny for a full minute? — Mel Brooks still has it. He’s 88 years old but remains whip-smart, and unlike many of his contemporaries, his legacy hasn’t been stained by unfortunate revelations.
(Although Dracula: Dead and Loving It is pretty bad…)
He was on Jimmy Kimmel Live! last week, and when the host brought up the recent hubbub with The Interview, Brooks responded, “I waited ’til Hitler was dead” to make The Producers. Then, referring to North Korea, he joked, “I don’t know how crazy they are, so I’m going to ask you to stop talking about it.” The world is a better place with Mel Brooks in it.
