Watch Seth Meyers Re-Create David Letterman’s ‘Late Night’ Opening

The tributes to David Letterman have been rolling in — on the internet and on late night with more to come — but while Seth Meyers talked about his own experiences visiting Letterman to discuss life and goats, his Late Night opening was something special… a shot for shot recreation of Letterman’s own Late Night opening.

The video quality isn’t great on the original, but you can tell that there was a lot of attention to detail put into making the tribute. You can also tell that the Victory Theater is looking a lot better and that there are a lot more people burning the midnight oil at 30 Rock then there were in the early ’80s when it was pretty much just Dave and Calvert DeForest, talking about life while playing spiritually intense games of Monopoly. Let me have my dreams.
