Of The Simpsons‘ many set-in-the-future episodes, arguably the worst is “Bart to the Future.” It’s one thing for Bart to be an underachiever and proud of it; in this season 11 episode, he’s a sad mess, a beer-drinking nothing who mooches from Lisa. And now she’s the president, obviously.
The episode does one thing right, though: It predicted that Donald Trump would run for head of state, and win (god willing, it never gets that far in real life). In the scene, President Simpson asks Secretary Milhouse Van Houten how bad the “budget crunch” they inherited from President Donald Trump is. He replies, “We’re broke.” How can that be? “Well, remember when the last administration decided to invest in our nation’s children? Big mistake.” Apparently, children aren’t the future.
“Bart to the Future” takes place in 2030, so we still have time to halt President Trump from happening. Actually, if the would-be Terminator wants to blink Trump from history, that’d be cool.
And nothing of value was lost.
