AMC’s newest series, Into the Badlands, sports a significant pedigree. Miles Millar and Alfred Gough, the duo behind Smallville, created the martial-arts drama, and David Dobkin (The Judge) directed the first three episodes. If you’ve seen trailers for Into the Badlands, then you know dynamic fight scenes are a part of its DNA. Huan-Chiu Ku is the martial arts coordinator for the show; he’s been behind the stunts and fights for Asian cinema gems like Iron Monkey and Fist of Legend. (If you want to see Jet Li in his prime, watch the final fight in Fist of Legend.) Daniel Wu (Europa Report) is serving double duty as executive producer and a series regular, and the always terrific Stephen Lang will pop up in at least four episodes.
Into the Badlands imagines a world devoid of guns and divided up between opulent Barons in a time when respect, revenge, and law are carried out through the ways of the fist. It premieres on AMC on Nov. 15 at 10 p.m. EST.
