(Spoilers and speculation for season six in the video and the text below.)
In what was largely a filler episode, this week’s The Walking Dead showed Alexandrians unraveling even more. With a zombie horde knocking at the gates, some of the best fighters still missing, and a stack of bodies — of both good and bad people — piling up, the residents started drinking, looting, and kissing (because nothing is more of a turn-on than your husband being murdered several days prior). While we’re waiting to find out if characters we actually feel connected to (Glenn and Morgan) are dead and/or will die this season, one person’s fate came into question: Spencer.
Of all the unhinged residents, the Monroe family seems to be taking the lion’s share of the crazy. Deanna doesn’t really know how to lead anymore and certainly doesn’t know how to kill a walker effectively. (She’s going through a lot, but seriously, aiming for the head is rule one.) Her remaining son, Spencer, an alcoholic and a thief, has all but given up. We last see Spencer when he takes over guard shift on the wall, but when Deanna is walking past the fence later on, we see a streak of blood. I figured that lingering shot would reveal a crack in the wall and some pesky undead. But the blood might also belong to Spencer. Is it possible Deanna could kill her own son? Or did Spencer’s boozing get the better of him? Tell us what you think in the comments.
