Last week, approximately five bottles of wine and 7500 cookies ago, we brought you a fun “Fresh Prince” reunion picture that featured the whole cast laughing and smiling. Well, almost all the whole cast. Conspicuously absent were either of the show’s Aunt Vivs, and when TMZ reached the original Aunt Viv, Janet Hubert, she gave a very simple and understandable reason she was not in the picture: because she hates Will Smith. Like, SO much:
15 years after the show went off the air … Janet Hubert tells TMZ she’s still upset with the way she was fired from the show … and blames the whole thing on Smith himself.
“There will never be a reunion … as I will never do anything with an a**hole like Will Smith,” Hubert said.
She adds, “He is still an egomaniac and has not grown up. This constant reunion thing will never ever happen in my lifetime unless there is an apology, which he doesn’t know the word.” [TMZ]
When Smith was reached for comment, he said, “You know TV moms are the same. No matter time nor place, they don’t understand that us kids are going to make some mistakes.” He then went on to tell horror stories about Hubert offering to buy him some clothes, but getting him “ancient artifacts” instead of more stylish options, causing him to be mocked by his peers. And another time, allegedly, Smith borrowed her Porsche to go meet a girl, but when he ran into a little police trouble Hubert and her TV husband, James Avery, showed up and brutalized him. According to Smith, they shoved him into the car by his face, and took turns beating him and driving on the way home.
So, to you child actors all across the land, take it from Willl. Parents just don’t understand
