If you’ve seen Netflix’s Bloodline then you know the Emmy nominated series sort of sneaks up on you and then delivers quite the one-two punch to the gut. The show’s Emmy nominated cast includes the likes of Sissy Spacek and Kyle Chandler but the true standout performance in the series –from Damages creators Glenn and Todd A. Kessler — comes from that of possible Star Wars actor Ben Mendelsohn.
At the Television Critics Association summer press tour on Wednesday, Glenn Kessler dropped a major tidbit — while trying not to get too spoilery — that Mendelsohn will be returning for season two:
“The DNA of the show is such that the past is always with us,” noted Kessler of the show’s flashback-heavy format. “We’re going to learn more about Danny’s effect on the family and more about his past, and also what his effects are in the present day.”
“There’s a very important story that we’re interested in telling that includes [Danny],” he added.
Kessler stated that they always intended to keep Mendelsohn on as a part of the project even before he delivered such a brutally honest — and somewhat creepy — performance. “That was always part of the plan,” he said. “When we first hired him, it was for more than the first season.”
