Billy Eichner has had fun running around New York City on this season of Billy on the Street with everyone from Jon Hamm to Seth Rogen to Lupita Nyong’o (who we won’t hold it against that she sucks at stand up comedy), but of course no season would be complete without an appearance by Eichner’s old pal and contestant, Elena. In this preview for an upcoming episode, Elena joins Billy as they approach New Yorkers and quiz them on the lyrics to “God Bless America.” As it turns out, most people do not know the lyrics to “God Bless America!”
Wearing his trademark purple T-shirt that he has been wearing every episode this season (does Billy Eichner only have one shirt or does he shoot an entire season in one day??), Billy and Elena go up to random people and sing the lyric: “From the mountains to the prairies, to the oceans white with…” Then, turning the microphone around, they invite the participant to finish. Elena is unimpressed with Billy’s refusal to accept “froth” as an answer from the first woman who plays along (it’s foam), which is also the closest answer they get. Without spoiling anything, thankfully the pair does find something to agree upon in the end.
