Earlier this year, Vince Gilligan said that he wants Bryan Cranston, the winner of approximately 73 Emmys for his work on Breaking Bad, to appear on Better Call Saul. Or in his exact words, “I would love to see that personally.” You can, because it’s your show. Just make sure it’s not during filming for Malcolm In the Mid-Life Crisis, which is obviously going to happen, now that Cranston has said he’d been interested in strapping on Hal’s tighty whities again.
When asked by Entertainment Tonight Canada which project he’d like to return to, Cranston said: “Right now, I think, I look back on Malcolm in the Middle. It’s been 10 years since we went off the air and it’d be fun to pick up that guy’s clothes again and be fun and sweet and adorable and hapless and clueless and afraid of everything.” (Via Digital Spy)
Cranston excels at playing fun and sweet and adorable and hapless and clueless and afraid of everything characters, and he was never better at it than on Malcolm, where he could sing about bacon using his belly to his heart’s content. As for Better Call Saul: “I don’t have a yearning to go back into [Breaking Bad‘s] world because we just covered it completely, I think.”
Just let the man sing, dammit.
