For fans of comedy from the fringes, here’s a promo for Tim & Eric’s first spin-off, “Check It Out with Dr. Steve Brule,” starring John C. Reilly in the title role. The show has premiere date of August 23rd on Cartoon Network’s Adult Swim, assuming the Internet isn’t lying to me.
Now, I love the mutant role Adult Swim plays in the great big universe of comedy, but there’s some stuff that’s just too weird for me, and I think this is going to fall into that realm. For their Old Spice commercials alone, Tim and Eric are brilliant, but a lot of the humor on “Awesome Show Great Job!” doesn’t resonate with me. Same thing with “The Mighty Boosh” — at a certain point, I’m too distracted by how strange the show is to pay attention to the humor. Like, can you guys tell a joke about killing a hooker already? That’s why “Archer” is my bread and butter.
(thanks, Panda!)
The Mighty Douche is actually Spencer Pratt’s birth name.
Just bought Tim & Eric DVDs season 1-3. Brilliant, just fucking brilliant. I agree though sometimes I am wondering, “How is this show on TV and how does anyone find it funny.”
Bring back Space Ghost! George Lowe is dangerously underworked.
John C. Reilly is a fucking pimp.
*wonders if kids still use that vernacular*
i think you’re right on about Awesome Show. maybe we’re missing something; but it’d be a shame to waste hits of acid and it turn out to still suck.
Fuuuck me, I agree with you.
It looks like an unfunny version of a mashup of Between Tow Ferns and the 80s videos they do on Late Night with James Fallon.
Yeah, 30% of Tim & Eric kills me. The other 70% is just weird for weird’s sake.
The 30% keeps me coming back, though.
Weed most definitely helps.
LOST fans, sure whatever, but take a shot at the Boosh and now you’ve done it. MORE WHIMSY!
The only place I’ve seen this show on, is in opium dens.
I hope this means more “Brule’s Rules.” Thanks to the good doctor, I no longer have leaves in my driveway, I don’t drink expired milk, and I’m no longer on fire.
Tim and Eric Show, pretty good, the Mighty Boosh…..dead brilliant (especially the one where Vince and Howard find out they have imitators, and then Naboo and Bolla have imitators too).
Reminds me a little of SCTV (maybe the low budget special effects?)
