Danielle Brooks is both hilarious and heartbreaking on Orange is the New Black, and this year she also got the opportunity to show off some considerable song-and-dance skills as a member of the The Color Purple Broadway cast. As she reveals on Conan, it looks like she also has some pretty decent beatboxing skills that she can show off at parties if the mood strikes.
On a visit to Conan O’Brien’s couch, Brooks decides to break out the beat as well as a pretty hilarious story related to her efforts to learn the talent. One day while driving around listening to some old school Biz Markie she decided to spread her wings and fly as a fledgling beatboxer. It didn’t go so well apparently, as her driver told her that “…it sounded like [she] was giving a bad blow job” despite her best efforts to, well, not sound like that.
Conan and Andy sure know how to make somebody feel better though, as Andy offers up the fact that “there’s no such thing” as a bad blow job and Conan’s beatboxing results in an even worse sound. Compared to Conan, Brooks’ beats sound almost professional! It all comes down to the confidence each of them has in their respective skill levels. Work on your swagger, Conan.
