On 24, Kiefer Sutherland kicked ass, took names, and saved assorted people, nations, and principles in his tenure as Fox’s most high-profile Counter Terrorism Unit agent. He also snuck in a bit of torture along the way. Such a rascal, that Jack Bauer. This fall, Sutherland will be tasked with another important mission for America: serve as its president.
Variety reports that ABC will be putting its political thriller Designated Survivor on their fall primetime schedule. Originally ordered near the tail-end of 2015, this conspiracy-laced drama has been confirmed to premiere on the Alphabet Network with a total of 13 episodes ordered. Sex and the City producer (and Just My Luck scribe!) Amy B. Harris was originally tapped as Designated Survivor‘s showrunner, but Variety notes that she’s now out with the search on for someone else to fill the role.
On the program, Sutherland plays a cabinet member thrust into the position of President of the United States after everyone else in the presidential line is killed. Maggie Q, Natascha McElhone, and Kal Penn (who can boast White House’s Office of Public Engagement experience) are also a part of the cast.
Accompanying the news of Designated Survivor‘s spot on ABC’s fall schedule is the teaseriest of teasers for the show. Clocking in at a brisk 12 seconds, the sneak peek is here to raise more questions than answers. The main question being: Is Kiefer Sutherland going to do the show’s theme tune?
