When Difficult People star Julie Klausner set the internet on fire with her infamous Blue Ivy joke last August, everyone outside of Beyoncé’s so-called “BeyHive” realized just how amazing the Amy Poehler-produced series is. Along with co-star Billy Eichner and the rest of the cast, Hulu’s original comedy series proved to be a smash hit during its eight-episode first season. The second season, which Hulu bumped with a 10-episode order, premieres on July 12. To announce its triumphant return, the streaming service dropped the first full trailer for the new season on Thursday.
Following Billy and Julie’s “big break” at the end of the first season, it seems things might finally be looking up for the pair this time around. They have an intern whom they take great pleasure in abusing, machinations about meeting entertainment executives at synagogues, and a pitch for NBC involving Adolf as a central (or at least necessary) character. Considering the two cynical comedians’ outlook on life in New York and everyone else but each other, none of this should come as a surprise. Which means that Difficult People‘s next go-round is bound to be as good (if not better) than its first outing.
Hell, even Hamilton‘s Lin-Manuel Miranda said Billy and Julie’s show-within-a-show was better than his. So it must be good!
