In case you haven’t been tuning in, things are going pretty well for Vanilla Ice and his ninjas on the DIY network’s The Vanilla Ice Project. The early 90s rap star has re-established himself as quite the upscale house flipper in South Florida, and even the city of Wellington recognized him as its Outstanding Citizen of the Year for 2014. Basically, no one on television brings an abandoned million dollar home back to life quite like the guy who gave us “Ice Ice Baby,” and it seemed like between that show and Vanilla Ice Goes Amish, 2015 would be just as kind to him.
Alas, when a man is treated like a king, he begins to behave as such, and now Robert Van Winkle is in a little trouble for allegedly helping himself to another homeowner’s property while working on his latest home for The Vanilla Ice Project.
Vanilla Ice has been arrested and charged with burglary and grand theft for allegedly stealing furniture, a pool heater, bicycles and other stuff from a vacant home in Florida.
Lantana PD tells TMZ … it’s all connected to Ice’s TV show, “The Vanilla Ice Project.” Ice was renovating a nearby home and allegedly thought it was a good idea to go to the abandoned place and take the items in question.
Apparently, even though the house was vacant, the rightful owner had a problem with someone jacking their belongings … thus the burglary charge. (Via … TMZ)
If this is true, I blame Jeremy. That dude is always messing things up, like getting paint on the carpet or breaking the granite countertop slab. But more importantly, grow the hell up, Van Winkle. This “ninja” is 47-years old, a father, the star of multiple TV series and a respected businessman in South Florida. While stealing from other homes is a very South Florida contractor thing to do, he’s better than that.
That should not, however, stop him from including this whole ordeal, from the alleged plot to steal the goods to the arrest, on the upcoming season. We should be able to watch and enjoy every second of that.
