So, season eight of Doctor Who took some serious getting used to. The Doctor is now old, kind of mean and played by that foul mouthed Scottish guy from The Thick of It. There’s a new main villain who is also kind of familiar. Clara is still around, but fans went through the season sort of under the impression that Jenna Coleman was going to leave the series at the end (and was originally written to do so until she changed her mind). A perfectly fine season overall — it just took some adjustment.
Well, now that we know that Clara is still around (for now), what about the upcoming season nine (which premieres on BBC America on September 19)? According to the video above, it looks like things are changing up once again. Missy’s back, The Doctor and Clara are actually getting along and “running through time and space as fast as they can,” and Maisie Williams (Game of Thrones) has a role this season. Add to that the revelation that River Song will make her return to the show during this year’s Christmas special, and we have a lot to look forward to.
